Out of the Kitchen and Into the Community
FoodWorks does much more than change the lives of Marylanders through culinary training. In the same Baltimore County kitchen space where students hone their culinary techniques, a dedicated team of Maryland Food Bank chefs crafts nutritious meals for our MFB Kids programs, including Summer and Supper Clubs.
We provide the healthy breakfasts, lunches, and/or dinners to hungry kids participating in after-school programs to complement the tutoring, arts and crafts, sports and other activities that community organizations like YMCAs, Boys & Girls Clubs, and recreation centers offer local residents.
Kids are at their most vulnerable when they are outside of the familiar settings like school, or home. That’s why programs that provide opportunities for kids after the school day, on the weekend, and during the summer are so important to our next generation of leaders. By making sure they have access to nutritious foods they actually want to eat, we help make sure kids are ready to succeed when they go back to school. All meals strictly adhere to nutritional guidelines established by the USDA.
